Eleven Miles of Night: Reading #86:





"The farmhouse was perched atop a hill, and there were lights on in the windows. It was a bucolic scene, on one hand—but also a modern one. Atop the roof of the two-story home, Jason could see a satellite dish; cable television probably wasn't available this far out in the country. In the driveway were two late-model vehicles: a sedan and a pickup truck. Both were American-made, of course, but they were also new. These were prosperous farmers...."
