Eleven Miles of Night: Reading #123:

Terrence let loose a low, cruel chuckle. He knew that his next words would sting Glenn; and this realization oddly delighted him: Glenn needed a comeuppance, just like that wife of his. Just like his old man. They all needed a comeuppance; and they were going to get a grand one when he finally hauled stakes for California. But in the meantime he had a more individualized reality check for Glenn.
His friend was looking at him across the space of the front seat. Clearly he hadn’t expected his last statement to draw laughter.

’Take her away from me?’” Terrence said. “’Run around with her behind my back?’ Have you looked in the mirror, lately, Glenn? Like I said earlier, you ain’t exactly no ladies’ man.”
