Eleven Miles of Night: Reading #113:





The hellhound, now all but covered with flame, rolled over onto its side. In its dying throes, it found the strength to raise its neck and snap its jaws in Jason’s direction. Jason fell backward onto the grass; the hellhound’s incisors had missed his face by a hand’s breadth.
The unworldly animal lay at last on its side, defeated. The red eyes flickered once more and went black. The fast-moving fire had eaten out its insides, so that streamers of noxious smoke escaped from the spaces between its exposed ribs...
